Therapeutic Supports

The government’s aim is to provide people with disabilities the support they need to lead comfortable and fulfilling lives. This is why the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) was created. NDIS gives people in supported living various ways to manage their disabilities, empowering them to take control.

What is the NDIS all about?

NDIS offers personalized support packages for people with disabilities. This support also includes their families and caregivers. NDIS helps people with disabilities set and reach their goals by:

The NDIS funding provides help in education, work, social activities, independence, health, and living situations. This funding can cover assistance with :
There are several NDIS providers across the country including Positive Moods.

CareAssist Australia is a team of NDIS registered psychologists and counsellors located in Brisbane, Queensland. Our psychologists are skilled in supporting people with disabilities. We focus on encouraging positive changes and helping participants build self-awareness to enhance their lives and social interactions. We respect each participant’s abilities and provide psychological care in a non-judgmental way. Transportation and accommodation are key challenges for people with disabilities in Queensland.

CareAssist Australia offers in-home counselling services when needed, allowing participants to attend sessions in the comfort of their own homes. This makes it easier for them to receive quality care.

Goals: How to Set and Reach Them

NDIS helps people with disabilities improve their quality of life by focusing on their goals. Goals are crucial for NDIS as they provide participants with a sense of purpose and direction. Goals can include making friends, becoming more independent, finding a job, or pursuing education. It’s important to make goals clear and specific so that NDIS providers can meet the needs of each participant. The ECEI Coordinator, LAC, or NDIA planner works with participants to discuss their desired goals and any needs that haven’t been met.
Goals can be short-term, medium-term, or long-term :

The participant and their coordinator create short-term goals to achieve long-term goals.

People with disabilities can set important goals for themselves. CareAssist Australia helps create a supportive environment for achieving these goals. Working towards these goals can empower individuals with disabilities, making them stronger emotionally, physically, and mentally. CareAssist Australia helps participants overcome obstacles that stop them from dreaming big.

Addressing personal growth barriers is a top priority for CareAssist Australia. We believe the first step in achieving goals is to tackle internal barriers before external ones. Ignoring internal struggles while facing outside challenges is just a temporary solution and won’t lead to lasting success.

As participants grow stronger and more empowered, reaching their goals becomes easier, even with the challenges they may face.

Therapeutic Support

NDIS registered organizations should help participants become more independent and aware of themselves, so they can set and achieve their goals. Each session is customized to fit the individual needs of the participant.

At CareAssist Australia, we do more than just help participants reach their goals. We also collaborate with participants’ carers and Support Coordinators to address daily mental health issues.

Therapy support counseling sessions include:

One-on-One Counseling

Individual counseling is a one-on-one meeting between the client and the psychologist focused on improving mental health. The aim is to help the client overcome negative thoughts or barriers that block their goals. It encourages clients to understand and accept themselves better, build their skills, and tap into personal resources. This process helps them become their best selves and can inspire others starting their journey.

Support Groups

In a group counseling session, participants meet in small groups to talk with psychologists. These sessions allow participants to connect, set shared goals, exchange ideas, make friends, and form bonds. The aim of group counseling is to improve social and communication skills. This helps build their confidence to take part in social activities, which can improve their chances of finding a job.

Group Support

In group therapy, different professionals join forces to support participants and help them achieve their goals. This can include the participant’s other NDIS providers, such as Art Therapists, Rehabilitation Counsellors, Social Workers, or Occupational Therapists. At CareAssist Australia, our psychologists work alongside these professionals in the same session. Counseling sessions are suggested for participants who understand how to deal with mental health issues and set goals.

Community Help

CareAssist Australia helps participants connect with their community through group sessions with other NDIS members. This program focuses on building social and community goals, in addition to personal goals. It also expands participants’ social networks by offering various activities.
